Mine Controller

About the role 

We are seeking expressions of interest for Controllers to support our Pilbara Mine Operations by safely coordinating site-based equipment from our remote Operations Centre near Perth Airport.

In this role, you’ll help maintain safe and efficient operations across an integrated mining network while working with site and Operations Centre teams. What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Mine Control Supervisor and working in a collaborative, fast-paced operational environment, you will be:

• Ensure effective and efficient operation of multiple autonomous and manual operating assets.
• Prioritise operational activities based on a Daily Schedule and site conditions.
• Quickly problem solve for contingency planning in case of unplanned events.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders along the value chain.
• Actively pursue productivity opportunities when they arise.
• Coordinate operational activities across multiple functions and sites to support safe, reliable and efficient execution of the plan.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure timely communication, informed decision-making and alignment to operational priorities.
• Monitor changing conditions, safety and system functions and prioritise and escalate as required.
• Utilise operational systems, data and digital tools to identify emerging issues, optimise performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Complete comprehensive shift handovers and shift records to ensure continuity of awareness, risks, priorities and actions across incoming teams.

Required for Success 

• A commitment to the safety of yourself, your team and your site peers. 

• AHS – Autonomous Haulage System experience including working with Komatsu Front Runner, Caterpillar MineStar and/or Dispatch systems

• Remote Pit Control or site-based pit operations

• Mining experience within an operational environment where priorities and conditions can change during shift. 

• Communication and computer capability to coordinate operational information with site and Operations Centre teams and complete detailed shift logs and handovers. 

• Ability to monitor multiple operational priorities and use analytical judgement to support safe, timely decisions. 

• A current and valid Australian Driver’s Licence.

Where you’ll be working

Our integrated iron ore network is supported by our Operations Centre (OC) in Perth, a state-of-the-art facility that enables all the autonomous trucks, trains and drills at our mines, ports and rail systems to be operated from a single location. The Centre incorporates visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across our demand chain and allows us to optimise our mining, maintenance and logistic activities across the Pilbara in a way never before possible. Located near the Perth domestic airport, the OC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to coordinate our integrated network of mines, rail, and ports from 1,500km away.
