What you'll do
- You'll join a platform-oriented mobile team that owns the architecture powering the marketplace experience inside the Kaufland app. Most of our challenges are not native UI work: they're about webview architecture, cross-system communication, and scalability – while we still build and maintain selected fully native features
- You'll help shape how the marketplace is integrated into the Kaufland app, working on a modular, SDK-oriented architecture designed to be maintained and evolved over the long term
- You'll take ownership of the entire feature lifecycle – from concept and design to implementation, testing, release, and monitoring in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
- You'll debug and investigate complex issues end to end across system boundaries – native code, webviews, and the web frontend – working closely with backend and frontend engineers
- You'll collaborate in an unusually rich setup: cross-team, cross-area, and cross-company, since our marketplace is integrated directly into the Kaufland retail app
- The team's scope is growing beyond pure mobile: you'll have the opportunity to work on backend services owned by the team, expanding your skill set into new technologies
- Together with product managers and designers, you'll shape data-driven, hypothesis-based product experiences validated through A/B testing
- Our app serves millions of users, so you'll share responsibility for keeping it observable, stable, and scalable in production
What they're looking for
- Solid experience in Swift and/or Kotlin, with the flexibility to work across both platforms, and a strong understanding of modern mobile engineering practices
- Experience building and maintaining projects in a modular architecture setup, and confidence navigating and debugging large, complex codebases
- A systems-thinking mindset: you enjoy investigating problems that span multiple layers and technologies more than polishing pixels
- Backend development experience – or a genuine drive to learn quickly; our backend stack is TypeScript with NestJS, and curiosity matters more to us than ticking every box
- Strong grasp of TDD principles and a commitment to clean, well-tested, maintainable code
- An analytical mindset and a strong sense of ownership for your software in production: observability, monitoring, and learning from real usage data are part of your definition of done
- You balance shipping value today with technical decisions that will still hold in two years – we evolve a platform, not just features
- AI tools are already a natural part of how you work and build software
- Fluent in English (C1) and comfortable in a dynamic, international environment
Nice to have
- Experience developing and distributing mobile SDKs
- Knowledge of cross-platform technologies, especially Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP)
- Ability to read and debug TypeScript code when investigating cross-system issues
- Familiarity with A/B testing concepts and correct experiment implementation (we use Optimizely)
- Hands-on experience with observability tooling such as DataDog
