About the role

Responsible for providing technical support to the program and coordinate with the state government(s) and NI teams in strengthening adolescent & maternal health and nutrition interventions. The officer is expected to represent NI on all related nutrition issues at various fora.  In this role you will be responsible to:

·       Lead the preparation of Project Implementation Plans (PIPs), detailed workplans and program budgets for assigned AWHN, MNHN and integrated nutrition projects in coordination with the NPM and relevant state teams.

·       Coordinate periodic (quarterly/half-yearly) reviews of PIPs and implementation progress, identify gaps and recommend amendments to activities, timelines and resource requirements for consideration by the NPM.

·       Support the planning, implementation and management of demonstration and implementation projects in assigned states under the technical guidance of the NPM.

·       Provide technical and programmatic support to assigned states on strategic planning, operationalization and implementation of NI-supported programs.

·       Provide inputs into the development and contextualization of training modules, capacity-building approaches and Behaviour Change Intervention (BCI) products.

·       Support assessment of capacity-building needs and coordinate orientation, ToT and refresher training activities for partner NGO staff, consultants, extenders and other relevant stakeholders.

·       Support quality assurance of program implementation through field visits, supportive supervision, review meetings and follow-up of agreed actions.

·       Provide inputs into the development and implementation of monitoring plans, indicators, monitoring tools and web-based MIS systems.

·       Track program progress against agreed targets and results, and support timely corrective action based on monitoring findings.

·       Establish and maintain effective working relationships with State Government Departments, NHM, local organizations and other relevant stakeholders in states where NI does not have an office.

·       Represent NI, as delegated by the NPM, in relevant government meetings, technical working groups, conferences and other forums aligned with NI's programming priorities.

·       Coordinate the preparation of initial concept notes and provide technical and programmatic inputs for proposals, including collation and analysis of relevant data, background information, activities, results, budgets and other supporting materials.

·       Contribute to the development of theories of change, results frameworks, implementation approaches and budgets for new and ongoing initiatives, as required.

·       Provide inputs into the preparation and review of grant agreements with identified local organizations and other implementing partners for program activities.

·       Support monitoring of partner performance and implementation against agreed deliverables, timelines and budgets.

·       Regularly review budget utilization for assigned states/projects, identify variances and potential risks, and provide recommendations to the NPM for corrective action.

Requirements

You will have

·       A master’s degree in medicine, nutrition, public health, and/or a related field.

·       At least 6-7 years of progressive work experience in developing and implementing programs

·       Experience of working in public health nutrition focusing on maternal and child health nutrition will be an added advantage.

·       A result-oriented approach and proven ability to manage, track and coordinate complex multi-partner large-scale programs.

·       Ability to network and negotiate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including government to achieve the objectives of the program

·       Ability to assess programmatic risks and develop and manage effective mitigation strategies

·       Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and work under minimal supervision

·       Language Skills - English and Hindi is a prerequisite. Knowledge of other languages spoken in India (Marathi, Bengali, Kannada) would be an asset.
