NetSuite Business Analyst

Position Overview

A NetSuite Business Analyst is needed who bridges the gap between how the business actually works and how NetSuite is configured to support it. This is a functional role: the priority is someone who can sit with Finance, Sales and Operations, understand their processes, challenge them where needed, and translate what they hear into clear, workable NetSuite solutions.

Alongside that, genuine depth on the financial side of NetSuite is needed. This person must be credible in a room with the finance team and understand the accounting consequences of a configuration decision, not just the mechanics of it.

The group operates across multiple subsidiaries and continues to grow, including through acquisition. A meaningful part of this role is bringing new entities onto the platform, mapping how an acquired business currently works, migrating its data, aligning it to group structure and reporting, and retiring the systems it came with. Experience of that work is a significant advantage.

This is not a pure developer role that takes tickets, nor a pure analyst role that hands everything over and loses sight of it.

What Matters Most

  • Business and financial understanding: mapping a process end to end, spotting where it breaks, explaining commercial and accounting impact in language a non-technical stakeholder will act on
  • Communication: running requirements sessions, managing expectations across departments, writing clearly, pushing back constructively when a request isn't the right solution
  • Functional NetSuite knowledge: knowing what's native, what needs configuration, and what genuinely needs custom development
  • Intermediate technical ability: comfortable around the code without living in it
  • Ownership: seeing a problem through from first conversation to production fix, staying accountable afterwards

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with department leaders across Finance, Sales, Operations and Procurement to document workflows and identify improvements
  • Gather, challenge and prioritise requirements
  • Translate requirements into functional specifications, process maps and acceptance criteria
  • Act as day-to-day point of contact between the business and the NetSuite platform

Finance & Accounting Processes

  • Own functional design of GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliation, fixed assets, period-end close
  • Support multi-subsidiary, multi-currency and intercompany structures, including consolidation and elimination
  • Configure and maintain billing and revenue processes (SuiteBilling, recurring/subscription billing, invoicing, payment automation)
  • Maintain tax/VAT treatment, chart of accounts and classification design
  • Support management and statutory reporting requirements

Group Structure, Subsidiaries & Acquisitions

  • Onboard newly acquired or created entities: subsidiary setup, currencies, tax registrations, CoA alignment, approval routing
  • Analyse how an acquired business operates and agree what's harmonised vs. kept different
  • Plan and execute data migration from legacy systems, with reconciliation and Finance sign-off
  • Configure intercompany, consolidation and elimination behaviour
  • Set up roles/permissions for incoming users and train them
  • Support decommissioning of legacy systems

Solution Design & Configuration

  • Configure NetSuite modules, custom records/fields, forms, roles, permissions, SuiteFlow workflows
  • Exhaust native functionality before customisation, and justify the choice either way
  • Support Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, inventory/supply chain, CRM and warehouse flows
  • Build Advanced PDF/HTML templates and custom transaction forms

Technical Delivery & Integration

  • Write, amend and debug straightforward SuiteScript; read complex scripts well enough to understand behaviour
  • Understand RESTlets, SuiteTalk REST/SOAP, SuiteQL, JSON/XML and OAuth 2.0 well enough to design and specify integrations
  • Judge when point-to-point vs. middleware/iPaaS (Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft, Jitterbit) is the right answer
  • Specify and oversee larger integrations and EDI/file-based exchange delivered by developers or partners
  • Fix straightforward customisations, scope the rest for development
  • Follow a disciplined sandbox-to-production path

Reporting & Analytics

  • Build and maintain saved searches, SuiteQL queries, reports, KPIs and executive dashboards
  • Ensure reporting is trusted and genuinely used in decision-making

Testing, Support & Release Management

  • Own functional testing and UAT coordination
  • Provide functional support, triage and prioritise issues by business impact
  • Investigate problems to root cause
  • Assess impact of NetSuite release updates on configuration, scripts and integrations
  • Train users, produce SOPs and guides

Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate documentation of configuration, customisations, integrations and decisions
  • Review third-party/colleague work against spec before production
  • Support data quality, migration and reconciliation activities
  • Contribute to change control
  • Provide functional guidance to junior colleagues as the team grows

  • M&A finance-side experience (due diligence, opening balance sheets, post-acquisition integration)
  • ETL tooling and large-scale data migration/reconciliation
  • Effective use of AI-assisted tools for delivery speed and quality

Ways of Working

  • Comfortable in Agile/sprint-based delivery, able to work to agreed priorities without close supervision
  • Collaborates well cross-functionally, with third-party partners and colleagues in other time zones
  • Pragmatic, willing to ship a simple working solution
  • Disciplined about documentation and handover
