About this role

O&M Wind Turbine Technician

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for an O&M Wind Turbine Technician to join our team to support operations and maintenance at Gesner Wind Farm in Muirkirk, Ontario. The technician must be competent and qualified to work on Gamesa G97 or Vestas V90 wind turbines. Specific training and electrical / mechanical competencies are an asset. Here’s what you will do as a Wind Technician:

  • Full time home position at Gesner Wind Farm in Muirkirk, Ontario.
  • Support the site On-Call Program on weekends.
  • Climb wind turbines (upwards of 130m) to perform diagnostic testing, installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic components/systems.
  • Complete various reports, checklists, and hazard analysis as it pertains to job scope.
  • Participate in company and customer HSE/training programs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experience/service to our partners in the industry.
  • Follow all Health and Safety policies to maintain a zero-incident workplace
  • Scheduled maintenance of Wind Turbine Generators including: inspection, greasing, cleaning, torquing and tensioning of bolted connections
  • Apply LOTO
  • Electrical Troubleshooting
  • Hydraulic Troubleshooting
  • Follow and implement work procedures for specific scopes of work to inspect, repair and maintain Wind Turbine components
  • Populate, track and communicate client and company documentation on a daily basis
  • Maintain and track parts/consumables inventory.
  • Complete work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain a clean work area, equipment and tooling
  • Perform other daily work requirements as directed by Site Management
  • Maintain required training certifications for position (Fall Protection/Rescue Training, LOTO, First Aid/CPR/AED) etc.

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Live within 1 hour commute from Muirkirk, Ontario
  • 2 years minimum Gamesa G97 troubleshooting experience

OR

  • 3 years minimum Vestas V90 troubleshooting experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High computer literacy and aptitude with M365 applications

Preferred Work Experience if not a Wind program graduate:

  • 3 Years Wind Industry Experience
  • Annual and Semi Annual Maintenance
  • Base Bolt Tensioning
