Operations & Sustainment Mission Lead (Sustainment Division Lead)

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III).  Please note that this is contingent upon contract award

The Sustainment Division Lead will provide division-level leadership and oversight for operations, maintenance, sustainment (OM&S), and engineering execution supporting mission-critical NORAD and USSPACECOM capabilities across the Cheyenne Mountain Complex enterprise. This role is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary sustainment organizations responsible for maintaining operational readiness, driving modernization initiatives, coordinating engineering changes, and ensuring the long-term reliability and availability of strategic warning, command-and-control, and space mission systems. The Sustainment Division Lead will partner closely with Government stakeholders, program leadership, engineering teams, cybersecurity, logistics, software development, and operations personnel to deliver resilient mission support within a complex classified environment. 

Responsibilities 

• Oversee OM&S operations supporting critical NORAD and USSPACECOM mission systems. 
• Lead engineering, sustainment, logistics, cybersecurity, software, and operations teams. 
• Ensure 24/7 mission readiness and system availability across distributed environments. 
• Develop long‑term sustainment and modernization strategies. 
• Manage engineering changes, lifecycle maintenance, and technology refresh efforts. 
• Track sustainment metrics, SLAs, KPIs, and readiness objectives. 
• Manage staffing, resources, workload, and performance across sustainment organizations. 
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. 
• Coordinate priorities and mission impacts with Government, partners, and subcontractors. 
• Support customer working groups, including PSWG, with sustainment updates and recommendations. 
• Support contract transition, workforce stand‑up, and knowledge transfer activities. 
• Identify and mitigate sustainment risks across cost, schedule, and technical performance. 
• Support financial planning, staffing strategies, and resource allocation. 
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, RMF, quality standards, and classified procedures. 
• Deliver executive briefings and customer engagements on sustainment and modernization progress. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance required; ability to obtain SCI access required. 
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D. Additional four relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 
• Relevant experience in leading operations, maintenance, sustainment, engineering, or technical organizations supporting large DoD programs. 
• Demonstrated experience managing operations and sustainment within mission-critical or classified environments. 
• Experience supporting strategic warning, command-and-control, space, missile defense, ISR, or comparable national security mission systems. 
• Experience leading geographically distributed technical teams in a 24×7 operational environment. 
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering, lifecycle sustainment, engineering change management, and modernization planning. 
• Experience managing subcontractors, cross-functional organizations, and customer relationships. 
• Experience leading customer-facing working groups and presenting sustainment plans, performance, risks, and recommendations to Government stakeholders. 
• Experience supporting program execution across staffing, cost, schedule, and operational performance objectives. 
• Strong communication and leadership skills with experience briefing senior Government leadership. 

Desired Qualifications 

• PMP, DAWIA, ITIL, or equivalent leadership certification. 
• Prior experience supporting NISSC I/II, ITW/AA, NORAD, USNORTHCOM, USSPACECOM, or Cheyenne Mountain Complex programs. 
• Experience supporting strategic warning, missile warning, space domain awareness, or command-and-control mission systems. 
• Experience leading modernization and technology refresh efforts within operational sustainment environments. 
• Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, Digital Engineering, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). 
• Background in RMF, NIST, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks. 
• Experience operating within TS/SCI mission environments supporting 24×7 operational missions. 
• Experience leading large-scale contract transitions or enterprise sustainment organizations.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
