  • Using approved products such as Pura, fungicidal washes and anti-microbial treatments in accordance with safe systems of work.

  • Escalating concerns where specialist investigation or intervention is required.
  • Providing feedback to Damp & Mould Surveyors regarding treatment outcomes and recurring issues.

As part of our response to Awaab's Law, we are expanding our Damp & Mould team and are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Damp & Mould Specialist Decorator to help us improve the living conditions of our customers and protect their health and wellbeing.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference by delivering specialist damp and mould remediation works, restoring homes to a high standard and helping to prevent recurring issues. Working closely with Damp & Mould Surveyors, Property Inspectors, Housing Teams and trade colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring damp and mould cases are resolved quickly, effectively and safely.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Damp & Mould Specialist Decorator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out mould washing, sanitisation and treatment programmes within customers' homes.

  • Using approved products such as Pura, fungicidal washes and anti-microbial treatments in accordance with safe systems of work.

  • Removing mould contamination from walls, ceilings, woodwork and other affected surfaces.

  • Applying specialist stain-blocking products, including Zinsser, prior to decoration.

  • Completing mould-resistant painting and decorating works following treatment.

Diagnosis and Prevention

  • Identifying signs and causes of damp, mould and condensation.

  • Recognising issues relating to ventilation, lifestyle factors and building defects.

  • Providing feedback to Damp & Mould Surveyors regarding treatment outcomes and recurring issues.

  • Supporting the reduction of repeat damp and mould cases through proactive identification of root causes.

Customer Service

  • Delivering an excellent customer experience at every stage of the process.

  • Treating customers with dignity, respect and empathy, recognising the impact damp and mould can have on health and wellbeing.

  • Clearly explaining the work being carried out and expected timescales.

  • Keeping customers informed throughout the duration of works.

  • Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns, vulnerabilities or health risks encountered during visits.

Compliance, Quality and Safety

  • Working in accordance with SNG's Health & Safety Policies and Safe Systems of Work.

  • Completing dynamic risk assessments before commencing work.

  • Ensuring compliance with Awaab's Law, HHSRS requirements and company procedures.

  • Following COSHH requirements and using PPE, specialist equipment and hazardous substances safely.

  • Working safely in environments where asbestos-containing materials may be present and adhering to relevant procedures.

  • Capturing photographic evidence before, during and after works.

  • Maintaining accurate records, job notes and evidence trails using company systems.

  • Reporting any property condition that could present an immediate risk to customers, colleagues or contractors.

  • Promoting SNG's "Everyone Safe and Well" culture at all times.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Proven experience in painting and decorating.

  • Experience carrying out damp and mould treatment and remediation works.
