Job Description:

Location: Pope Army Airfield (Fayetteville, NC)
Customer: Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW)

Summary

Own your opportunity to support a critical Special Warfare training mission. As a Paramedic with GDIT, you will provide hands‑on medical support to students assigned to the Special Warfare Training Wing at Pope Army Airfield. You will use advanced life support skills to assess, treat, document, and coordinate care for training‑related injuries and medical events. In this role, you serve as a key link between on‑scene response and the broader healthcare system, operating under established medical oversight and applicable national/state paramedic guidelines.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate courses of treatment in accordance with local protocols and national/state EMT‑Paramedic guidelines.
• Provide triage and care for students unable to perform in training due to medical or musculoskeletal issues; apply triage protocols to support return‑to‑training decisions.
• Respond to, stabilize, and coordinate EMS activation for physical trauma, heat‑related illness, near‑drowning events, and other emergencies; summarize injuries and care rendered to receiving EMS responders.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary human performance team (e.g., physicians, sports medicine providers, athletic trainers, physical therapists, operational psychologists, strength coaches) to support the health, performance, and readiness of students.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of injuries, treatment methods, rehabilitation progress, and medical releases in accordance with Government and GDIT standards.
• Provide relevant medical information to Special Warfare medical staff to support ongoing student medical needs and training continuity.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Licensure and Certifications

• Current National EMT‑Paramedic Certification (National Registry) or state EMT‑Paramedic license at the paramedic level or higher.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Program / Board Certification

• Successful completion of a CAAHEP‑accredited paramedic program (or a program with a CoAEMSP “Letter of Review”) within the past two (2) years.
• For paramedics whose education program began after August 1, 2016: successful completion of a psychomotor competency portfolio.

Experience

• At least three (3) years of experience as a paramedic within the last five (5) years.

Training / Systems Experience

• Familiarity with and ability to access and use medical data systems such as:
  • MHS GENESIS
  • Aeromedical Services Information Management System (ASIMS)
  • Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS)
  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP)
  • Health Artifact and Image Management Solution (HAIMS)
• Experience with medical records review and quality control, including military diving‑related documentation (e.g., DD2807, DD2808, DD2766C, Dental, PHA, and Pressure Test Verification).

Work Schedule

• Ability to work a non‑standard schedule, extended hours, and rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by training operations.
• Ability to travel away from the normal duty station to support training requirements, in accordance with GDIT and customer travel policies.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to traverse uneven and/or wooded terrain to reach patients in field conditions and extricate patients to appropriate medical response vehicles.
• Physical conditioning sufficient to demonstrate and perform various exercise procedures and operate under stress, including:
  • Lifting heavy weights, potentially up to 100 lbs.
  • Squatting, sitting, running, jumping, bending, walking, and crawling (low/high profile) for up to 25 meters.
  • Prolonged standing in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ability to comply with GDIT’s drug‑free workplace and fitness‑for‑duty requirements and any customer‑specific medical screening standards.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $20.40 - $27.60. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
