- The Perfusionist is responsible for the set up and operation of extracorporeal and related devices used in cardiac surgery.
- Conduct tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes.
- Performs or directs others to perform appropriate tests prior to bypass.
- Monitors and records patients' physiologic functions/requirements and reports effectiveness of care to other team members.
- The Perfusionist supervises and trains other cardiology technologists and students.
