Job Description:

Job Summary:

The State of Georgia is seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Board-Certified Physician to provide comprehensive medical care to individuals residing at Gracewood. This role involves diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions, managing chronic diseases, and promoting overall health and well-being within a residential setting.

ECRH has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. On July 1, 2003, these two previously separate facilities officially consolidated and became ECRH. The facilities serve DBHDD’s 33-county

East Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood campus provides services for people living with developmental disabilities in both an ICF/IID and a skilled nursing facility setting. The 310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes living areas, activity areas, administrative buildings, and support buildings.

ECRH currently employs approximately 900 staff and is owned and governed by DBHDD. It is accredited by The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations under standards for Hospital, Behavioral Health, Laboratory, and Long-Term Care.

This Physician position is for our Gracewood Campus.

Job Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic testing.
* Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions, prescribing medications and developing individualized treatment plans.
* Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
* Manage and monitor patient health, including vital signs, medication adherence, and progress toward treatment goals.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
* Provide preventative care, health education, and counseling to patients and their families.
* Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
* Participate in on-call rotations as required to provide emergency medical coverage.
* Adhere to all State of Georgia policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
* Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with medical advancements and best practices.

Job Qualifications:**

* Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
* Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.
* Board Certification in a relevant primary care specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine) or other appropriate specialty.
* Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience post-residency, preferably in a residential, long-term care, or primary care setting.
* Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
