Plot Sales Conveyancer (Locum) – Edinburgh

Edinburgh (hybrid working available)

4-week contract

Start date: October 2026

Up to £28 per hour PAYE / £38 per hour Umbrella

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Conveyancer to join a specialist Plot Sales Conveyancing team on a short-term locum assignment.

The team is seeking support for an initial 4-week period to cover annual leave, with an ideal start date during the first week of October. This role would suit an experienced conveyancer who is comfortable handling plot sales and residential conveyancing work with minimal supervision.

Candidates do not need a specific PQE level; however, they must have sufficient conveyancing experience to work independently and confidently manage matters without requiring ongoing legal supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and issuing contract packs
• Managing pre-contract enquiries
• Handling exchanges of contracts
• Dealing with part exchange purchases and resales
• Preparing completion statements
• Managing completion and post-completion processes
• Submitting Land Registry applications
• Completing SDLT returns
• Ordering and reviewing conveyancing searches
• Opening and maintaining files
• Preparing bills and supporting wider transactional processes
• Assisting the wider Real Estate team where required

Experience in plot sales conveyancing would be particularly advantageous. Exposure to site set-up work, transfers, estate documentation, deeds of easement, deeds of covenant and development-related conveyancing matters would also be beneficial, although these are not essential requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong residential conveyancing or plot sales experience
• Experience managing transactions from instruction through to completion
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to work efficiently within a busy team environment
• Experience using case management systems and Land Registry portals

The successful candidate will be required to attend the Edinburgh office for the first few days to complete onboarding and handover. Following this, greater flexibility can be considered, although regular office attendance may be beneficial.
