Power Infrastructure Delivery Lead

Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. The Microsoft portfolio includes complex, multidisciplinary, large-scale datacenter construction and lease projects. The Power Infrastructure Delivery Lead is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of behind-the-meter power solutions by lease providers across the AMERS portfolio. This role coordinates planning, design, construction, commissioning, energization, acceptance, turnover, and commercial readiness to ensure each solution meets Microsoft technical, schedule, quality, safety, capacity, and operational requirements. The role works cross-functionally with engineering, energy, operations, commissioning, legal, procurement, finance, project controls, lease delivery, and lease-provider teams to establish clear ownership, resolve issues, and maintain alignment on obligations and deliverables on both the Microsoft and lease-provider sides. 

Responsibilities

The Power Infrastructure Delivery Lead ensures lease providers deliver behind-the-meter power solutions safely, predictably, and in compliance with Microsoft requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading end-to-end coordination from scope definition and design readiness through construction, testing, commissioning, energization, acceptance, and operational turnover
• Verifying lease-provider execution against Microsoft standards, approved designs, quality expectations, safety requirements, commissioning criteria, milestone commitments, and documentation requirements; coordinating engineering, energy, operations, commissioning, procurement, legal, finance, project controls, lease delivery, and other stakeholders around an integrated plan; holding lease providers accountable for scope, schedule, quality, capacity, performance, and turnover deliverables
• Managing technical, scope, construction, commissioning, and commercial changes through disciplined impact assessment and approval; translating schedule, cost, capacity, risk, compliance, and change data into mitigation plans and decision-ready recommendations
• Clarifying ownership, handoffs, decision rights, inputs, and approval timelines across organizations
• Driving risks and issues through verified closure; coordinating commercial alignment to confirm obligations, notices, approvals, dependencies, change entitlement, remedies, milestones, and acceptance requirements on both the Microsoft and lease-provider sides
• Maintaining accurate governance, reporting, decision records, compliance evidence, escalation narratives, and executive-ready status updates.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, AND 10+ years related experience OR equivalent experience. 

 

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience delivering behind-the-meter power, utility, electrical infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders and third-party providers from design through commissioning and turnover.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and commercial obligations, identify compliance or delivery gaps, and convert them into clear actions, mitigations, escalations, and decision-ready recommendations.
• Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects and timelines through influence without direct authority. 
• Communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and travel 0-25 percent.
• Ability in delivering medium-to-large-scale electrical, energy, utility through external construction or lease-provider partners.
• Experience with behind-the-meter power systems, electrical distribution, generation or energy solutions, utility interfaces, commissioning, and contractor or lease-provider management.
• Ability to align engineering, construction, operations, commercial, legal, finance, procurement, and project-controls stakeholders.
• Experience managing schedule, cost, change, risk, compliance, and commercial interfaces across a portfolio of projects.
• Creative problem-solving and analytical skills, with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and inclusion.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
