This is a varied position offering responsibility for statutory accounts, management accounts and tax compliance, alongside direct client contact and the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for delivering high-quality accounting and tax work across a varied portfolio of clients.

For a qualified Chartered Accountant or highly experienced candidate, responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts

• Managing and delivering year-end accounts

• Preparing management accounts

• Preparing and submitting Self-Assessment tax returns

• Ensuring accounts and tax work comply with relevant accounting standards and regulations

• Liaising directly with clients and providing proactive accounting and tax advice

• Building strong, long-term relationships with clients

• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team

• Assisting with workflow management

• Contributing ideas to improve systems and processes within the practice

The role provides a good balance of technical accounting, tax compliance, client management and advisory exposure.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice.

For the qualified position, the successful candidate will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified.

However, the practice is also keen to consider an experienced accountant who is not chartered, provided they have strong technical experience and can demonstrate the ability to manage a varied portfolio of accounts and tax work.

Candidates should have:

• Strong experience in statutory accounts preparation

• Good technical knowledge of accounts and tax compliance

• Experience working with a varied client portfolio

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

• The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong client communication and relationship-building skills

• Experience using accounting and cloud bookkeeping software

• A proactive, professional and commercially aware approach

• The confidence to work independently while contributing effectively within a team

Qualified and Experienced Accountant Candidates

The role has flexibility depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.

A Chartered Accountant with ACA or ACCA qualification would be expected to take a broader role, including reviewing accounts, supporting junior team members and contributing to workflow and process improvements.

An experienced non-chartered accountant will also be considered. The key requirement is strong recent UK accountancy practice experience and the ability to deliver high-quality accounts and tax work.

This makes the opportunity suitable for an ACA/ACCA qualified accountant, qualified by experience accountant, senior accountant or experienced practice accountant.
