About this role

Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Administration: Develop and implement the school’s vision, mission, and goals with a focus on inclusive and accessible education. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to special education (e.g., IDEA, ADA). Supervise daily school operations, including curriculum implementation, scheduling, and resource allocation. Lead and evaluate teaching and support staff to maintain high professional standards and instructional quality. Student-Centered Focus: Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Ensure appropriate academic, behavioral, therapeutic, and vocational programs are in place. Foster a culture of care, respect, and high expectations for all students, regardless of ability level. Staff Management & Professional Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate special education teachers, therapists, aides, and administrative staff. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities tailored to special education practices and interventions. Encourage a collaborative and inclusive team environment. Parent & Community Engagement: Communicate regularly with families about student progress, school programs, and support services. Build strong relationships with families and advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities. Collaborate with external agencies, specialists, and community organizations. Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the school budget, ensuring efficient use of funds to support student services and staff needs. Pursue grants and other funding opportunities related to special education. Ensure the school is equipped with adaptive technologies and materials. Health, Safety & Compliance: Promote and enforce health, safety, and accessibility standards. Coordinate crisis response plans and behavioral intervention strategies. Maintain accurate records for student progress, attendance, discipline, and compliance.
