Job Description

At AECOM, we’re delivering some of North Queensland’s most significant transport infrastructure projects — and we’re looking for an experienced Civil Engineer (10–15 years’ experience) to play a key role in shaping their delivery.

This is an opportunity for an experienced transport professional who wants meaningful technical responsibility, strong client exposure, and the chance to lead projects that directly impact regional communities — all while enjoying the lifestyle Mackay offers.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Lead technical delivery across transport planning, detailed design and construction phase support

  • Provide senior input across pavements, drainage and traffic, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant standards

  • Oversee design packages and coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs

  • Support project managers in managing scope, program, risk and client expectations

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping lift overall team capability

  • Contribute to client engagement, particularly across TMR and local government stakeholders

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive 

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • 10–15 years’ experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on transport and roads

  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects aligned to TMR standards (highly regarded)

  • Strong capability across pavements, drainage and road design

  • Experience leading technical packages or small project teams

  • Confident communicator with experience engaging clients and stakeholders

  • A collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring and supporting developing engineers

  • Based in Mackay or open to relocating to the region
