Full description from employer

Design products that help shape the future of sustainable heating and climate solutions.

Do you enjoy creating 3D models, developing technical drawings, and turning ideas into products that are manufactured on a large scale? At BDR Thermea Group, you'll take ownership of components that become part of innovative heating and climate solutions used by customers across Europe.

Your role
As a Product Engineer, you will develop and improve mechanical components and assemblies throughout the product development process. From the first concept and 3D model to supplier specifications, prototype validation, and production readiness, you'll help bring new products to life.

You will typically own one or more parts within a larger product, such as sheet metal components, plastic parts, piping, packaging, or mechanical assemblies. You'll be responsible for translating ideas into manufacturable designs and ensuring they meet quality, performance, and production requirements. Along the way, you'll work closely with colleagues from areas such as Testing & Validation, Quality, Procurement, Production, and Electronics to bring products successfully from design to production.

This is a hybrid role based in Apeldoorn. We value flexibility and collaboration and encourage colleagues to spend around three days per week in the office. During onboarding, you'll spend more time on-site building connections and learn from colleagues.

Your team
You'll join the Design & Engineering team within our Commercial Development Unit. The team consists of Product Engineers, Senior Product Engineers, and other technical colleagues who develop and improve products used by large-scale enterprise customers across Europe.

This is a team where ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning are valued. You'll have the opportunity to take responsibility for your own components from an early stage while learning from experienced colleagues around you. As your expertise grows, there are several opportunities to develop your career within Product Engineering and the wider BDR Thermea organisation.

What you'll do

  • Develop and improve mechanical components and assemblies for new products.

  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.

  • Translate technical requirements into manufacturable designs and supplier specifications.

  • Perform engineering calculations and design validations to assess feasibility and performance.

  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.

  • Work closely with suppliers, procurement, quality, and production teams to ensure successful implementation.

  • Contribute to products that move from concept to series production.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Around 3-8 years of experience in product development, product engineering, or mechanical design.

  • Solid experience creating 3D CAD models and technical manufacturing drawings.

  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.

  • Good communication skills in English. Dutch is considered a plus, not a requirement.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or another 3D CAD package.

  • Experience with Teamcenter or another PLM system.

  • Experience with engineering validation, tolerance calculations, DFMEA, FEM, or simulations.

What we offer

  • Build a long-term career with a permanent contract with Remeha, our Dutch subsidiary, including attractive employment conditions such as a 13th-month salary.

  • Take time to recharge with 27 vacation days and 13 additional ADV days: meaning 40 days off in a year, excluding public holidays.

  • Invest in your future with a strong pension scheme.

  • Enjoy support for your travel to work and various employee discounts.

  • Make an impact at an organisation that is accelerating the energy transition.
