Job Description

Are you a curious and driven student with a passion for numbers and interested in how technology, analytics, and commercial strategy come together to power one of North America's largest fuel networks? Pilot Company is seeking a Program Intern for our PDI Pricing team in Knoxville, TN, for the summer of 2027. As an Energy Pricing Intern, you'll work alongside teams responsible for wholesale operations, process improvement, and digital transformation initiatives. You'll gain hands-on experience solving real business challenges while helping improve the systems and processes that support critical commercial operations. 

 

In this role, you will be an integral part of our team, tackling key responsibilities that directly impact our operations and gain exposure to fuel pricing, commodity markets, retail and wholesale commercial strategies, and the systems that support pricing decisions across Pilot's network. You will analyze end-to-end business processes to identify operational risks, uncover improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions that improve execution and scalability.  

 

What You’ll Do 

Your responsibilities may include: 

  • Support Commercial Fuel Operations: Work directly with wholesale teams to help execute fuel pricing strategies, resolve operational issues, and ensure accurate transactions across a large and dynamic fuel network. 

  • Drive Process & System Automation: Support digital transformation initiatives by identifying automation opportunities, improving business processes, and helping teams leverage technology to work more efficiently and effectively. 

  • Streamline Business Processes: Identify operational inefficiencies and partner directly with wholesale groups to implement streamlined, modern ways of working. 

  • Deliver Data-Driven Process Insights: Leverage Celonis process mining and analytics to evaluate workflow performance, uncover bottlenecks, and propose actionable, high-impact improvements for the team. 

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For 

  • Education: A student pursuing a degree with coursework in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics or a related area of study. Experience or interest in Energy is a bonus. 

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and experience with data visualization is essential. Experience in Tableau, Celonis, or PDI is nice to have.
