Ready to work on projects you can actually point to?

Alfabs Group is an ASX-listed Australian engineering, manufacturing and construction group delivering complex projects across the Infrastructure, Mining, Ports and Construction sectors.

With a growing portfolio of major projects across Sydney and NSW, we’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our expanding Site Services team, based out of our Parramatta location.

This is an opportunity for an Engineer who enjoys being close to the action — working across engineering, fabrication and construction to help turn complex designs into practical, buildable solutions.

You’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers, Construction Managers and site teams, taking real ownership of the technical aspects of project delivery from planning and methodology through to execution and completion.

If you’re looking for your next step and want exposure to challenging projects, strong technical capability and a business that is continuing to grow, we want to hear from you.

Joining Alfabs means:

  • Competitive remuneration – an attractive salary package that recognises your skills, experience and the value you bring.
  • Employee benefits & rewards – access to Alfabs' employee benefits, reward and recognition programs designed to recognise the contribution of our people with amazing rewards, discounts and offers with major retailers
  • Career growth – genuine opportunities to develop, take on greater responsibility and progress your career as Alfabs continues to grow.
  • Real ownership – a role where you can influence project outcomes, solve complex challenges and see your work come to life on site.
  • Recognition that matters – be part of a business that values performance, contribution, teamwork and great results.
  • Parramatta location – work from our Sydney base, close to our expanding portfolio of major projects.
  • A team-focused culture – join a collaborative environment where practical thinking, initiative and good ideas are encouraged and valued.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Project Engineer, you’ll be a key link between engineering, project management, fabrication and site delivery.

You’ll take ownership of project technical requirements, help solve construction challenges before they become site problems, and ensure our teams have the drawings, methodologies, quality documentation and technical support they need to deliver safely and successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of on-site and off-site technical requirements across assigned projects.
  • Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and client requirements.
  • Developing and coordinating shop drawings, construction methodologies, ITPs, quality documentation and technical deliverables.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors to develop practical, buildable installation solutions.
  • Planning and documenting fabrication, yard assembly, modularisation, transport and installation methodologies.
  • Providing technical support and resolving engineering and construction issues throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinating with clients, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring project activities and documentation comply with relevant codes, standards, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Supporting project planning, programming, reporting and delivery using MS Project and Microsoft Office.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve constructability, productivity and project outcomes.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, programme and successful project delivery.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer who understands that successful engineering is about more than what works on paper — it needs to work on site.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary Qualification - University degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management Desired
  • 5-8 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable-sized organisation.
  • Proven site-based experience in an industrial environment or heavy industry.
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects, particularly in the field of site services
  • Solid understanding of industry safety requirements and standards
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparing documentation and reports.
  • Highly developed customer service and networking skills.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project
