Remington Ammunition is seeking a Project Mechanic. The Project Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, modification, fabrication, and rebuilding of precision tooling, production equipment, and machine components that support manufacturing operations. This role combines advanced machining, tool and die, and equipment rebuild expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience working with close-tolerance machining, equipment overhauls, and custom fabrication. Preference will be given to candidates who have designed, significantly modified, or have previous experience rebuilding cold heading or stamping presses.
This position reports to our Sr. Manager of Special Projects and is based out of our Lonoke, Arkansas office.
What you’ll do:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain manufacturing equipment and tooling systems.
Operate machine shop equipment including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other precision machining equipment.
Fabricate replacement parts, tooling, fixtures, and components to support production and maintenance needs.
Perform welding, brazing, grinding, fitting, and assembly operations as required.
Disassemble, inspect, repair, and rebuild machinery to precise specifications and tolerances.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD/CAM prints, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
Perform precision measurements and maintain tolerances as tight as 0.0002 inches.
Support process improvements and equipment modifications that improve reliability, safety, and productivity.
Work safely at all times and actively support a culture of safety throughout the facility.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, and process-related information.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
Experience you bring:
Tool & Die Maker Certification, Journeyman Card, or related technical diploma; OR 10+ years of machinist, tool and die, machine rebuild, or industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining complex manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.
Strong machining skills with the ability to operate manual machine shop equipment safely and effectively.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD/CAM drawings, technical manuals, mechanical schematics, and manufacturing specifications.
Experience working with close-tolerance machining and precision measurements.
Strong understanding of bearings, fasteners, seals, lubrication systems and mechanical power transmission components.
Knowledge of tool steels, alloys, heat treatment processes, grinding techniques, gauges, and precision measuring instruments.
Ability to inspect, fit, align, and assemble mechanical components to exact specifications.
Experience fabricating or modifying tooling, dies, machine components, and production equipment.
Ability to effectively diagnose equipment issues and develop practical repair solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with production, maintenance, engineering, and facilities personnel.
Ability to accurately document work performed and communicate equipment issues.
Ability to understand and follow written work instructions and technical procedures.

Experience in the department where the opening exists
Electronic experience or education
Knowledge of/experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, welding
Tinsmith experience

Pay Range:
$30.21 - $40.45The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
