What you'll do

  • Month End Closing Preparation - Responsible for regularly monitoring, updating, and/or maintaining accruals to ensure accuracy for month-end and quarter-end closing cycles related to Promotional Allowance accruals, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, internal controls, & GAAP rules.
  • Update and review of monthly GL details & related financial postings to identify changes requiring updates.
  • Participate in internal & external audit, as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements/improvements.
  • Communication & Support - Provide support to Accrual Supervisor and Accrual Manager by communicating insights on fluctuations within the Promotional Allowances accrual &/or expense, developing &/or delivering various analytical reports, and participating in ad-hoc assignments or projects, as needed.
  • Collaborate, coach, support cross-functionally with the Promotional Claims team, Pricing team, Sales/RGM, and others, as needed, by providing guidance and instruction on best practices and process requirements.
  • Accrual Change Management - Responsible for the review of promotional planned revisions and/or cancellation requests to ensure proper information is recorded and administered appropriately when revising or cancelling promotions.
  • Leadership and Guidance - Act as the subject matter expert for assigned Chain/Distributor accounts.

A Day in the Life:

The Promotional Claims Accrual Analyst reports directly to the Accrual Manager - Promotional Claims. Duties include the ongoing review, management, analysis, and adjustments of promotional spend accruals related to Customer promotional plans for month- and quarter-end close, working cross-functionally with Accounting Leadership, Revenue Growth Management, and Sales to ensure accuracy, timeliness of the accrual, and providing support to the Accrual Manager-Promotional Claims and Director-Promotional Claims, as needed. Candidates should have a minimum of 1-3 years analytical experience in accounting, have a strong understanding of accounting principles, especially those related to accruals, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and adjust accruals accordingly.

  • Leadership and Guidance - Act as the subject matter expert for assigned Chain/Distributor accounts. While all employees receive foundational training, Leads hold specialized knowledge of promotions, account managers, chain/distributor-specific practices, and best approaches for managing their accounts.

Who You Are:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting
  • 1-3 years of experience in Analytical experience 
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint, PowerBI, SAP, SalesForce, and/or VIP-PPM knowledge etc. a plus. 
  • Requires strong understanding of accounting principles related to accruals, problem-solving and organization skills, self-motivated mindset with a proactive approach to taking the initiative. $70,304—$78,740 USD
