Purchasing & Supply Chain

Morgan McKinley partnering with our client, a leading industrial distributor based in Galway, to recruit a Purchasing and Supply Chain Coordinator to join their established and busy Purchasing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Logistics or Supply Chain who is looking to develop their career within a growing organisation.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Purchasing function, ensuring orders are processed efficiently, suppliers are managed effectively and purchasing activity is completed within agreed deadlines.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Processing and expediting purchase orders within required timeframes
• Confirming orders and ensuring relevant information is communicated to the appropriate teams
• Following up on open and overdue purchase orders
• Supporting the management and reduction of excess inventory
• Reviewing returns and damaged goods
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
• Monitoring supplier performance
• Ensuring purchasing activities are completed within agreed timescales and deadlines
• Supporting the wider Purchasing team with ad hoc projects and initiatives
• Communicating effectively with internal teams and external suppliers

Ideally, you will have:

• 2+ years' experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Logistics or a related environment
• A degree in Supply Chain, or a related discipline is desirable
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Experience using SAP or another ERP system is highly desirable
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
• A flexible, proactive approach with a strong attention to detail
• The ability to build positive relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders
