QC Lead Chemist

Key Responsibilities of a Lead Chemist: 

• Team Leadership: 

• Supervise and mentor junior chemists, providing training and guidance on laboratory procedures and equipment.  

• Expectation to train QC Chemist, proper documentation, and provide action plan if not meeting the standards of the position 

• If QC Chemist is not able to cover bench responsibility Lead Chemist must cover duties and hours.  

• Quality Control: 

• Ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of products by performing routine and specialized testing. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols. 

• SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY. Ensure all people in the lab have proper PPE   

• Bench monitoring and leadership. Assessments of the QC Chemist 

• Technical Expertise: 

• Design and execute experiments, synthesize and analyze chemical compounds, and utilize advanced analytical techniques. 

• Expert in technical adjustment, and troubleshooting. QC Chemist troubleshoot basics; Lead Chemist troubleshoot advanced needs. If further expertise is needed escalate to QC Manager or R&D. 

• Data Analysis and Interpretation: 

• Analyze experimental data, draw meaningful conclusions, and prepare reports.  

• Troubleshooting, If the QC Chemist cannot solve the adjustment issue. Provide support and if unable to solve escalate to QC Manager 

• Laboratory Operations: 

• Oversee laboratory operations, ensuring proper maintenance and operation of equipment.  

• Were calibrations completed by QC Chemist for shift 

• Equipment piece having issue, Due for 3rd party. Report these to QC Manager 

• Process Improvement: 

• Identify and implement improvements to laboratory processes and methodologies.  

• Continuous improvement. How can we get better 

• How can we improve ownership of quality in the manufacturing plant 

• Communication and Collaboration: 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project objectives and meet project specifications.  

• Communicate information between shifts to Leads and Manager 

• Communicate information to Ops, or other departments if deemed by QC Manager 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 5+ years of wet chemistry testing experience.
• Statistical Process Control, Data Analysis, PC skills
• Must have strong problem-solving abilities specifically in technical matters.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel at multiple locations
• Must have the ability to take a leadership role in all Quality Assurance matters.
• Must be able to excel in a team environment.
• Some management or lead experience is preferred

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science
