Pearson Whiffin Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Rochester.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in quality systems and manufacturing who enjoys problem solving, improving processes and working closely with production, suppliers and customers.

You will play an important role in maintaining quality standards across the business, supporting audits, managing technical documentation and driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

The Role

Working closely with the Quality Manager and wider manufacturing team, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining quality systems across the business.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing supplier approval status and supporting supplier quality activities
• Managing CAPA and Root Cause Corrective Action processes
• Maintaining quality standards, specifications and technical documentation
• Supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
• Managing document control and configuration control
• Carrying out First Article Inspections
• Managing concessions and quality-related documentation
• Supporting customer and supplier visits
• Providing quality support to manufacturing and production teams
• Attending daily production meetings and supporting problem resolution
• Supporting New Product Introduction projects
• Managing and supporting PPAP activity
• Planning and carrying out internal audits
• Supporting and conducting customer audits
• Updating and maintaining business risk registers
• Generating and maintaining manufacturing routes within MRP systems
• Supporting contract review activities
• Maintaining accurate quality records and documentation
• Supporting the development and improvement of quality systems
• Leading and supporting problem-solving and continuous improvement projects

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment
• Experience working within an AS9100 quality environment
• Strong knowledge of quality systems, procedures and manufacturing standards
• Experience supporting or leading root cause and problem-solving activities
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across different departments
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality
• Confident using Microsoft Office systems
• Able to interpret and present technical information
• Experience working with suppliers and customers on quality-related matters
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience with specialist process accreditations such as NADCAP
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge or qualification
• Internal and/or external auditing experience
• Internal or external auditing qualification
• Full UK driving licence
