Job Summary

The Quality Technician Specialist is responsible for leading daily quality inspection operations and ensuring product quality, compliance, and operational excellence across MSB QE Operations. This role serves as a technical expert and shift leader, driving quality execution, operational coordination, troubleshooting, training, process improvement, and collaborator alignment to support manufacturing quality and shipment readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Operations Execution

  • Lead and perform quality inspections in accordance with established procedures, sampling plans, control plans, and quality specifications.

  • Ensure inspection activities are accomplished accurately, consistently, and within required turnaround times.

  • Support disposition and containment activities for non-conforming materials, products, and quality excursions.

  • Monitor daily inspection performance, quality benchmarks, and operational priorities to ensure business continuity and ongoing operational efficiency.

Technical Leadership & Problem Solving

  • Act as the primary technical resource for inspectors and operators on shift.

  • Troubleshoot quality, process, and operational issues and raise them when required.

  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions for recurring issues.

  • Support engineering evaluations, NPI activities, qualification runs, and special inspection requests.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Coordinate daily labor deployment, workload balancing, and shift priorities.

  • Provide mentorship, mentor support, and technical support to inspectors and technicians.

  • Facilitate communication and alignment between QE, Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning, and supporting teams.

  • Assist engineers and supervisors in accomplishing department goals, operational initiatives, and action plans.

Training & Capability Development

  • Conduct operational training, certification, re-certification, and on-the-job mentoring for team members.

  • Maintain training efficiency and proficiency standards within the team.

  • Support the development of training materials, certification checklists, and knowledge-sharing activities.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned operational processes and tools.

Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation

  • Identify operational inefficiencies, quality risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Lead or participate in Lean, automation, and efficiency improvement initiatives.

  • Apply digital tools, automation solutions, and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.

  • Support the implementation of guidelines and standardization across QE Operations.

Compliance & Quality System

  • Ensure compliance with Micron quality standards, ISO/IATF requirements, EHS requirements, and site procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and inspection documentation.

  • Support audits, customer visits, and quality system activities when required.

  • Promote a strong culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualification

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Electronics, Mechanical, or related fields is preferred.

  • Candidates without a diploma may be considered based on proven experience, demonstrated technical expertise, leadership capability, and operational contributions within Quality Operations.

  • Solid understanding of quality inspection methodologies, sampling plans, defect classification, and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience in quality operations, metrology, incoming inspection, outgoing inspection, wafer, strip, or unit-level inspection, or semiconductor manufacturing is preferred.

  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrates AI-enabled and data-driven ways of working through the use of technology solutions, automated processes, analytics, and continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Able to work on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays, as required by business operations.

  • Able to work in manufacturing environments including Cleanroom and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protected areas while aligning with site safety and contamination control requirements.

  • Able to perform quality inspection activities using microscopes, vision systems, and other inspection equipment for extended periods.

  • Capable of performing detailed visual inspections requiring strong attention to detail and defect recognition skills.

  • Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleanroom attire as applicable to assigned work areas.
