R&D Product Engineer

Job Description:

• In this position, you will oversee new product design, product testing, and reviewing/improving production and fabrication processes and procedures. An engineering background in sheet metal fabrication is needed. A high attention to detail, and the ability to optimize production processes for maximum efficiency are necessary for this role.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Work with sales and engineering teams to research, design, and develop new products that complement our current detention equipment product line.
• Prepare shop fabrication drawings for new product prototypes.
• Responsible for all current in-house testing which requires periodic updates.
• Monitor and maintain test report files.
• Responsible to work with all outside third party testing agencies.
• Assess and analyze our current processes to improve our production procedures, increase production, reduce costs, and improve quality.
• Work with maintenance and plant managers as necessary to assist them in making jigs/fixtures to maximize productivity of machinery and workers.
• Assist in reviewing all operations to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience of working in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Good math and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to produce accurate work while multitasking and operating with minimal supervision
• Minimal travel required
