The opportunity
We are seeking a new R&D Engineer for Testing and Validation within our Environmental Verification team at Hitachi Energy in Ludvika.
The Environmental Verification team is part of IVRS (Integration, Verification, Release and Support) within GI MACH. IVRS is responsible for integration, verification, release, and support activities, ensuring that MACH products and solutions meet defined requirements and are released with the right quality. The Environmental Verification function is responsible for environmental verification and qualification testing of MACH hardware products, including pre-compliance, pre-type, and type testing activities.
We play a key role in ensuring compliance with applicable international standards and regulatory requirements while supporting product qualification and release readiness. Our products range from embedded control and protection devices to advanced control systems and power electronics used in Power Transmission and Power Quality solutions such as HVDC, SVC, and STATCOM.
You will work in a highly technical and collaborative environment, contributing to the reliability and quality of critical energy infrastructure while working closely with development teams, project management, and laboratories.
How you’ll make an impact
Plan, prepare, and execute environmental verification activities, including EMC, climatic, safety, and mechanical testing.
Develop test specifications, test procedures, verification plans, and test reports for hardware products.
Build, supervise, and troubleshoot laboratory test setups using test equipment and instrumentation.
Verify product compliance with applicable international standards, regulations, and internal requirements.
Analyze test results, identify deviations, and support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
Collaborate with design engineers, project teams, suppliers, and external laboratories throughout the product development lifecycle.
Support product qualification activities, type testing, release milestones, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Drive assigned verification activities from planning through execution, reporting, and follow-up.
Your Background
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Several years of experience in testing, verification, validation, product qualification, or laboratory-based engineering work.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: EMC, climatic, safety, mechanical testing, industrial electronics, embedded systems, control and protection systems, or power electronics.
Knowledge of international standards and structured engineering processes, preferably within areas such as IEC 60255, IEC 61000, IEC 60068, product compliance, certification, or type testing.
Experience with laboratory instrumentation, electrical measurements, test automation, data acquisition, or engineering tools such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage technical details while maintaining a broader system perspective in a global and collaborative environment.
