Description of Position

TPG Real Estate Finance is seeking an Investment Accountant to oversee the comprehensive financial lifecycle of our US real estate assets. This role is designed for a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between granular property data and high-level fund strategy. We are looking for a professional who thrives at the intersection of technical rigor and strategic influence. You will be responsible for driving the accuracy of complex waterfall and forecasting models while simultaneously leading process improvements, mentoring junior talent, and acting as a critical advisor to our Deal and Asset Management teams.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end financial execution for real estate assets, ensuring seamless transitions from acquisition through hold period to final disposition.
  • Synthesize large volumes of operational, financial, and property-level data to produce actionable insights for fund reporting and portfolio decision-making.
  • Oversee the accuracy of quarterly property financials, disposition gain/loss modeling, and the calculation of complex promote/waterfall structures.
  • Act as a change agent to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable, technology-driven improvements across data management and reporting workflows.
  • Serve as a critical liaison between Finance, Deal Teams, and Asset Management to ensure financial strategies are aligned with asset-level business plans.
  • Manage and coach a dedicated administrative team and external service providers, ensuring a culture of high performance and continuous professional development.
  • Direct the preparation of organized documentation for audits, valuations, and tax filings, maintaining TPG’s standards for transparency and precision.
  • Communicate effectively with operating partners and third-party managers to ensure reporting consistency and operational alignment.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background; CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in real estate private equity, asset management, or a top-tier public accounting firm. Experience with complex investment structures is highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of real estate accounting, waterfall mechanics, and financial modeling. Proficiency in Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • A proven track record of handling large, complex data sets with an unwavering attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence external partners and present clearly to senior internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to move beyond the numbers to understand the broader business implications of financial data.
  • Experience managing direct reports or coordinating large third-party service teams.

It is expected that the annual base salary for this role will range from $135,000 – $165,000. Base salary is one component of TPG’s competitive total rewards package which typically includes discretionary compensation, comprehensive health benefits, and paid time off. Other incentives may also be available to certain eligible employees.

TPG is an equal employment opportunity employer that provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to age, race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity and expression), alienage or citizenship status, military or veteran status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy status, breastfeeding (or related medical conditions), familial status, caregiver status, or any other category protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
