At Saputo, we bring good to the table by making high-quality products, investing in our people, and supporting communities around the world. As a top 10 global dairy processor, we value contributions that matter and strive to foster an inclusive, growth-driven work environment. Ready to bring your best

Are you an experienced heavy vehicle professional who enjoys coaching others, building capability, and making a real impact on driver safety and performance?

We're seeking a Regional Fleet Training Lead to support our tanker operations across Gippsland, helping develop skilled, safe, and compliant drivers through hands-on coaching, assessments, and training delivery. This is a rewarding opportunity to transition your operational experience into a leadership and training-focused role while maintaining strong connections with drivers and the transport industry. Based on the beautiful South Gippsland region, you'll work closely with drivers, transport leaders, and operational teams to strengthen capability across our fleet.

About the Role

As the Regional Fleet Training Lead, you will be responsible for developing and supporting heavy vehicle drivers through practical coaching, classroom training, ride-alongs, and compliance activities. You'll play a critical role in building driver capability, improving safety outcomes, and ensuring drivers meet company and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering driver inductions, training programs, and annual driver assessments
  • Conducting ride-alongs and one-on-one coaching sessions with drivers
  • Supporting onboarding and development of new drivers
  • Ensuring compliance with fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and mass management requirements
  • Working with transport leaders to identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities
  • Monitoring and reporting on fleet and driver performance indicators
  • Supporting audits, governance activities, and training records management
  • Promoting a strong safety culture across the region
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to drivers and operational leadership teams

About You

You are a confident communicator who can comfortably facilitate a training session one day and conduct a driver assessment or ride-along the next. You build trust easily, enjoy coaching others, and understand the realities of heavy vehicle operations.

We're interested in candidates with:

Essential

  • Experience within the heavy vehicle, transport, tanker, or logistics industry
  • Strong understanding of safe driving practices and heavy vehicle compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting drivers
  • Ability to conduct driver assessments and provide constructive feedback
  • Strong organisational and administration skills

Highly Regarded

  • MC Licence
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE)
  • Driver Assessor qualifications
  • Knowledge of NHVR regulations, NHVAS, Fatigue Management, and Chain of Responsibility
  • Experience within tanker operations such as dairy, fuel, chemical, or bulk liquids transport

We welcome applicants from a range of heavy vehicle environments and value transferable experience over direct dairy industry knowledge.

What's in it for You?

  • Monday to Friday role offering excellent work-life balance
  • Opportunity to move from operational driving into a development and leadership-focused position
  • Company-funded travel when required
  • Extensive onboarding and support from experienced Training Leads
  • Chance to make a meaningful impact on driver safety, capability, and engagement
  • Work across the Gippsland region with a mix of office, classroom, and field-based activities

Location & Travel

This role is based in Leongatha, Victoria, with regular travel to Maffra and surrounding operational locations. Candidates should be located within reasonable commuting distance of Leongatha.

If you're passionate about developing people, improving safety outcomes, and bringing your heavy vehicle expertise into a rewarding training and coaching career, we'd love to hear from you.
