What you'll do

  • Identify impacts of Regional Transmission Planning initiatives (competitive, environmental, structural) on transmission and corporate positions in a timely manner.
  • Develop and coordinate transmission strategy on Regional Transmission Planning matters to the point where they are supported by senior management for Transmission, Energy Markets, and Regulatory.
  • Provides timely and continuous Regional Transmission Planning related information to business units to insure consistency with corporate positions and strategies.
  • Execute strategies externally for advancing the company's position.
  • Prepare and review of written and oral internal and external reports, comments, and briefing materials on transmission related policy matters.
  • Work directly with management throughout Xcel Energy to develop and promote transmission policy positions consistent with corporate goals.
  • Develop, direct and coordinate transmission related regulatory activities at both the state and federal level associated with changing reliability and market rules.
  • Advocate Transmission's position both internally and externally to senior management, regulators, stakeholders and leadership of Regional Transmission Planning.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to promote regional transmission policy requirements.
  • Seek to transform transmission policy stakeholder relationships into strategic assets by creating a climate of mutual understanding, trust, and support.
  • Serves as project manager for developing and implementing initiatives resulting from Regional Transmission Planningpolicy changes.
  • Act as coordinator for the system reliability and readiness around Regional Transmission Planning participation, as well as, ensuring systems are in place for cost recovery.

  • Ability to work hours in excess of 40 per week.
  • Ability to travel overnight on a regular basis.

Xcel Energy supports a hybrid work model to enable collaboration and flexibility. Many roles are expected to work onsite three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday); however, work location expectations vary based on role, team, and business needs.

 

Position Summary

Responsible for the development of the strategic direction on Regional Transmission Planning matters that support the company's operational and financial goals through leadership and coordination with other company business areas. Develop the policy direction and recommendations relating to Regional Transmission Planning system implementation. Deploy and maintain Xcel Energy's representation on strategic committees and work groups to ensure external influence on Regional Transmission Planning and Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) developments. Develop and deliver presentations to senior management, regulatory, and industry related to Regional Transmission Planning development and Xcel Energy's system implementation. Represent company's interests at the Regional Transmission Planning Policy and Board committees level. Coordinate Transmission Operations, Metering Data Management Agent, and Business Systems with Energy Markets, and Settlements on Regional Transmission Planning matters. Deliver expertise on Regional Transmission Planning and RRO issues in this rapidly changing sector of the industry.

Essential Responsibilities

Non-Bargaining

 

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $112,200.00 to $159,400.00 per year
