What you'll do

  • Assembly and fitting of new and used centrifuge bowls assemblies
  • Repairs, modifies and manufactures parts using hand tools or metal working machines such as manual milling machines or drill presses and fits them to the assembly.
  • Grinds parts to correct surface imperfections, remove burrs or blend weld seams. Polishes parts used in critical pharmaceutical or biotechnology processes to required surface finish per drawing. Measures and documents surface finishes on parts.
  • Balancing of new or used centrifuge rotating assemblies as described in technical documents such as drawings, technical bulletins or written instructions.
  • Performs safety run on bowls as required
  • Checks the correct functioning of the bowl’s hydraulic system.
  • Disassembles and re-assembles bowl assemblies and checks repeatability of balance values.
  • Reviews and completes required documentation and administrative paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment. Follows all applicable QHSE rules and regulatory requirements
  • Fulfills additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Technical or Vocational training
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience.
  • Mechanical trade, machining, maintenance, or equivalent technical background.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Reading technical manuals and blueprints
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting – Identifying mechanical, and vibrational related issues.
  • Disassembly & Reassembly – Properly dismantling, inspecting and reassembling mechanical components.
  • Being familiarized with the Metric system and being able to handle several conventional high precision measuring devices.
  • Good technical communicational skills (spoken and written).
  • Experience using electronic devices such as measuring arms, computers and Microsoft office tools.
  • Safety awareness

  • Associate Degree in mechanical Engineering or industrial maintenance (optional but beneficial)
  • Experience working with rotating industrial equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with dynamic balancing of rotating units is preferred.
