SUMMARY

The Industrial & Safety Specialist provides product expertise and technical support for industrial, safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) solutions within an MRO environment. This role partners with customers, sales teams, suppliers, and end users to identify hazards, recommend appropriate products, and support the proper selection and use of safety equipment. Key focus areas include industrial tooling, PPE, confined-space equipment, respiratory protection, gas detection, and fall-protection solutions.

JOB DUTIES

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for industrial and safety products, applications, and solutions.
  • Assess customer work environments, tasks, and safety needs to help identify suitable products and equipment.
  • Recommend solutions across: Industrial hand and power tools, PPE, including head, eye/face, hearing, hand, and protective apparel, Confined-space entry and rescue equipment, Respiratory protection equipment, Portable and fixed gas-detection equipment, Fall-protection and fall-arrest systems
  • Provide technical product support to end users, sales representatives, and internal teams.
  • Assist customers with product selection, application guidance, usage considerations, inspection practices, and replacement needs.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, safety meetings, training support, and end-user education as appropriate.
  • Partner with account representatives to identify growth opportunities and develop customer-specific safety and industrial product programs.
  • Support site assessments, job hazard discussions, and product trials while operating within applicable company procedures and manufacturer guidance.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant safety standards, product updates, and industry practices.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal resources to resolve technical product questions and customer concerns.
  • Document customer activity, recommendations, opportunities, and follow-up actions in applicable systems.
  • Promote a safety-first culture in all customer and internal interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in industrial distribution, MRO, EHS, safety, manufacturing, construction, utilities, or related environments.
  • Working knowledge of industrial tools, PPE, respiratory protection, gas detection, confined-space equipment, and fall-protection products.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences, from end users to safety professionals and purchasing teams.
  • Strong customer-service, consultative-selling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct customer site visits and work in industrial environments, using required PPE.
  • Proficiency with common business software and customer relationship management tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial technology, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Safety-related certifications or manufacturer training in areas such as fall protection, respiratory protection, gas detection, or confined-space safety.
  • Experience supporting safety compliance programs, industrial applications, or technical product training.
  • Familiarity with applicable workplace safety regulations and consensus standards.
