Job Description

Scope of Work -

1. Safety Officer (Civil / Construction Projects) - 1 Nos.
2. Key Qualification & Experience Requirements - Safety Officer

Qualification

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical or equivalent).
• Mandatory Safety Qualification: Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS/ADIS) or B.Sc. Fire & Safety / equivalent recognized safety certification.
• Knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, and statutory safety compliance.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Safety Officer in construction, infrastructure, industrial, port, power, or steel plant projects.

• Hands-on experience in managing safety for:
• Excavation and trenching works
• Work at height
• Lifting and crane operations
• Hot work and welding activities
• Structural erection and civil works
• Electrical safety
• Confined space entry
• Marine/jetty/berth construction activities (preferred)
• Experience in conducting safety inductions, toolbox talks, incident investigations, safety audits, HIRA/JSA preparation, and contractor safety management.

Preferred Certifications

• First Aid Certification.
• Fire Fighting Training.
• Internal/External Safety Auditor Certification (preferred).

B. Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Compliance & Monitoring

• Ensure compliance with Company Safety Standards, statutory requirements, and project-specific HSE procedures.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
• Stop any activity posing imminent danger to personnel, equipment, or environment.

2. Risk Assessment & Permit Control

• Review and approve HIRA/JSA/Risk Assessment documents before commencement of work.
• Verify adequacy of control measures at site.

• Ensure compliance with PTW requirements.

3. Safety Training & Awareness

• Conduct safety induction for new employees and workmen.
• Organize daily toolbox talks and periodic safety campaigns.
• Maintain training and competency records.

4. PPE Management

• Ensure availability and proper use of mandated PPE.
• Monitor PPE compliance and replacement requirements.

5. Incident Reporting & Investigation

• Report accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and unsafe conditions.
• Conduct investigations and submit root cause analysis reports.
• Track implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

6. Emergency Preparedness

• Ensure availability of firefighting equipment, first aid facilities, and emergency response resources.
• Conduct mock drills and emergency response exercises.

7. Contractor Safety Management

• Verify contractor safety documents, certifications, and training records.
• Ensure all contractor personnel complete mandatory safety induction before deployment.
• Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements.

8. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain statutory registers and safety records.
• Submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
• Track audit observations and compliance status.

9. Audit & Compliance Support

• Participate in internal and external HSE audits.
• Ensure timely closure of audit observations.
• Support management during safety reviews and inspections.
