The day to day: 

The Environmental Division in Stafford are looking for a new staff member for a Sample Receipt Officer role to join a well-established team.  This role is primarily focused on incoming and outgoing goods to support the success and efficiency of our commercial laboratory.

This is a fast-paced and varied role that will see you unpacking and sorting with accuracy. 

  • Receive clients’ deliveries and confirm samples meet the testing requirements.
  • Process incoming sample deliveries into the laboratory including the sorting and labelling of samples.
  • Read and understand client documentation.
  • Organise and follow up of freight pick-ups for internal and interstate samples.
  • Liaising with clients (internal and external) regarding sample submissions
  • Maintaining filing systems and documentation
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintaining an excellent standard of occupational health and safety

  • Ability to process multiple concurrent requests efficiently and accurately. 
  • An understanding of laboratory safety and chemical hazards. 
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to absorb and retain high levels of information. 

Additionally, the following skills and interests are advantageous and desirable:

  • A demonstrated interest in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, Excel macros, scripting, or 3D printing
  • Coding or programming capability (e.g. VBA, Python, R, SQL or similar)
  • Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation
