About this role

Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) is part of JPMorganChase's Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) organization and operates as an independent second line of defense. GFCC helps safeguard the firm, its clients, and the global financial system by identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks. As an Executive Director within Global Sanctions Compliance, you will lead a critical operations function, drive strategic transformation, and help shape how sanctions-related obligations are executed across the firm.

As an Executive Director within Global Sanctions Compliance, you will lead the Block and Reject compliance organization, overseeing operational execution, regulatory reporting, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will manage a distributed team across Delaware and India, ensuring the organization operates with strong controls, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. In addition to day-to-day leadership, you will drive modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to simplify reporting processes, enhance controls, leverage automation, and implement scalable solutions that strengthen the firm's sanctions compliance framework.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing team responsible for sanctions-related blocking and rejection activities, fostering a strong risk and control culture across multiple locations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting of blocked and rejected transactions in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Oversee documentation standards, audit trails, and governance processes supporting sanctions-related actions and decisions.
  • Drive operational excellence through effective workflow management, capacity planning, escalation management, and performance monitoring.
  • Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to measure operational effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead strategic programs and initiatives from planning through execution, including governance, stakeholder management, milestone tracking, and delivery oversight.
  • Partner with Compliance, Operational Risk, Audit, and Technology teams to identify control gaps, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable remediation plans.
  • Develop and execute operating model enhancements that improve efficiency, reduce rework, strengthen controls, and support scalability.
  • Promote innovation through process redesign, standardization, automation, and technology-enabled solutions.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, testing activities, and inquiries while ensuring accurate and timely responses.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level reporting, presentations, and communications that inform decision-making and demonstrate operational performance.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations leadership, program management, project delivery, or related disciplines within financial services or similarly regulated environments.
  • Proven experience leading large, geographically distributed teams, including offshore operations.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing metrics-driven operating models with a focus on performance, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong experience leading operational transformation initiatives involving process redesign, standardization, automation, and control enhancement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced, highly controlled environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including process mapping, root-cause analysis, and remediation planning.
