The Impact You'll Have


Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Sr. AI Engineer in Eagan, Minnesota. In this role, you will help advance the organization’s artificial intelligence strategy by turning machine learning concepts into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will partner with data science and business subject matter experts to improve workflows, automate data pipelines, and reduce operational overhead while enabling data scientists and analysts to work more effectively.

As part of the AI Innovation and Product Engineering team, you will contribute to a product-focused approach by helping create reusable frameworks that can be applied consistently across business problems. This business-facing opportunity combines solution design, cloud deployment, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.



What You'll Do

• Design, build, and deploy production-ready artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions from concept through implementation.
• Create reusable frameworks and engineering patterns that can be applied consistently across products and business problems.
• Guide cloud migration and integration of AI solutions while supporting reliable product lifecycle management practices.
• Partner with product, data science, engineering, and business teams to translate strategic needs into scalable technical solutions.




How You'll Do It

• Deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models in production, working with data scientists and other stakeholders in the organization.
• Work with a team of data scientists and AI engineers to ensure seamless AI development, integration and deployment in production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the analytical and ML needs and provide technical solutions.
• Mentor and help junior data scientists to train and run models in cloud environment like AWS and Azure and automation of data science processes.
• Develop and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests for APIs and ML models. 
• Evaluate, implement emerging tools and cloud services for analytics data engineering to improve productivity of the team.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to build high quality data pipelines that will be used by data scientists and business analysts to generate insights.
• Performs additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.​




Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of related data analytics & business intelligence professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree; in lieu of a degree, an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the qualifications listed above may be accepted.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely, actively listen to anticipate stakeholder needs, and align others to drive informed decisions.
• Ability to analyze complex information, evaluate options, and work cross-functionally to drive resolution and prevent recurrence.
• Ability to effectively organize work, balance competing priorities, and manage time across complex assignments and competing deadlines.
• Programming (Python) and SQL proficiency.
• Predictive modeling / statistical analysis in ML workflows.
• Experience with AWS tools / cloud platforms.
• Experience with version control (example: Git Version Control system).
• Experience with visualization tools (example: PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, etc.).
• Experience with healthcare data / healthcare domain knowledge.




Role Designation


Hybrid



Role designation definition:

• Teleworking is working full time remote.
• Hybrid is a minimum of 2 days onsite.
• Onsite is full-time onsite.

Our hybrid approach is designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person connection and collaboration. We come together in the office two days each week – most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships, creativity, and alignment. The rest of the week you are empowered to work remote.




Compensation and Benefits


$117,800.00 - $159,000.00 - $200,200.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
