About this role

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Audit Manager to join our internal Audit team, Europe Regulatory Compliance Conduct and Legal. You’ll bring a strong background in audit, assurance or risk management function, with the ability to lead end-to-end audits and assess complex regulatory compliance, conduct or legal risks.

You’ll lead and shape high-profile end-to-end audits across Regulatory Compliance, Conduct and Legal, while working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll work across broad and varied portfolios, gaining exposure to complex and high-profile risk areas and engaging with senior stakeholders across the bank. You will bring strong audit expertise, curiosity and the ability to quickly assimilate complex information, see the bigger picture and identify the key risks and issues without getting lost in the detail.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Effectively manage and lead end-to-end audit activities, including planning, execution, and delivery of the annual audit plan within expected timeframes, standards, methodology, budget, and best practices.
  • Drive co-ordination and collaboration across teams to make sure audit work is consistently delivered, considering how audit can use data analytics, agile techniques and other innovations.
  • Confirm audit findings and remediation plans are accurate, appropriate, and accepted by management.
  • Provide constructive challenge and, as necessary, risk-based advice to stakeholders.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships. Represent GIA in governance forums, including the preparation and presentation of associated audit packs.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive experience in the Financial Services Sector
  • Experience in Assurance/Audit, regulatory, and/or second line risk and control function, ideally covering regulatory compliance, conduct and legal related risks and areas.
  • Strong knowledge and interest in UK and EU regulations, with the ability to keep up to date with developments across the banking industry and regulatory landscape
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to apply qualitative and quantitative methods to analyse and investigate challenging scenarios, manage competing priorities and identify key risks and issues
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate with impact, articulate complex information meaningfully and engage effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Dedicated to continuously improving your own skills, which could be demonstrated by holding relevant professional qualifications such as in accountancy, finance or risk management, and keeping up to date with developments in the banking industry, markets and regulations.

Opening up a world of opportunity.
