  • Develop and execute battery reliability and durability test plans for module and pack programs.
  • Perform electrical cycling, life-cycle testing, accelerated aging, performance characterization, and durability evaluations.

The Senior Battery Reliability & Validation Engineer is responsible for executing and improving battery reliability, durability, and performance validation testing for module and pack-level battery systems. This role owns electrical cycling activities and supports thermal, mechanical, and environmental validation efforts to characterize product performance over life.

The ideal candidate is highly hands-on with automated battery test systems and has strong experience operating cyclers, data acquisition systems, and battery validation equipment in a fast-paced product development environment.

Role:

Reliability & Durability Validation

    • Develop and execute battery reliability and durability test plans for module and pack programs.
    • Perform electrical cycling, life-cycle testing, accelerated aging, performance characterization, and durability evaluations.
    • Support thermal, mechanical, vibration, environmental, and performance validation activities.
    • Monitor test progression and identify degradation trends, anomalies, and failures.

Battery Test Systems

    • Configure, operate, and maintain battery cyclers and automated validation systems.
    • Support commissioning and deployment of new test equipment and laboratory capabilities.
    • Design and implement instrumentation for voltage, current, temperature, and other critical measurements.
    • Troubleshoot test equipment and collaborate with suppliers to resolve system issues.

Automation & Data Analysis

    • Develop automated test workflows and data monitoring tools.

Cross-Functional Support

    • Partner with Battery Safety, Cell Engineering, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Controls teams.
    • Support root cause investigations and design validation efforts.
    • Contribute to development of validation methodologies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Work closely with technicians to ensure safe and efficient test execution.

Qualifications:

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$144,000—$198,000 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.  Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
