About this role

As a Senior Business Controller IT, you are primarily responsible for steering, creating an overall in-depth insight and decision-making at a strategic level within the domain IT.

What you need to know about us?

We are Athora Netherlands, an insurance company behind the well-known brands Zwitserleven and Reaal. Our primary focus is on pensions and life insurance in the Dutch market. We operate as part of a European group with offices in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, and Italy.

We are a strong and ambitious organization serving more than one million customers. Over the coming years, we aim to grow into one of the leading players in the rapidly changing pension market. That is why we are looking for people who embrace change, take initiative, and have the ambition to deliver results. People who consistently bring out the best in themselves and their teams. We call this smarter together.

What will you do?

You will:

  • Act as a strategic sparring partner and countervailing power for IT management and senior leadership.

  • Assess and challenge the IT change portfolio and investment agenda from a financial perspective.

  • Translate complex IT, change and financial topics into scenarios, management insights and executive decision-making.

  • Challenge and steer portfolio performance, cost development, investment decisions and benefits realization.

  • Increase financial transparency within IT through clear insight into cost drivers and Activity-Based Costing.

  • Strengthen governance and steering frameworks across Finance, IT and Change.

What do we ask from you?

  • Master's degree (WO) in Finance, Business Economics, Accounting or a related discipline.

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience as a Business Controller in a complex corporate environment.

  • Experience with IT and change portfolios, investment decision-making and business case evaluation.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; able to reduce complex issues to their key drivers.

  • Credible sparring partner for management teams and senior leadership.

  • Affinity with data analytics, automation and AI.

  • Excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

What we offer

You’ll be joining a company of around 900 colleagues, all of whom believe they work for a truly special organization. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the socially relevant topic of pensions. We help people secure their financial future, so they can enjoy their retirement with peace of mind.

You’ll also have the chance to make a real impact in the area of sustainability. Sustainability has been at the heart of both our operations and investment strategy for many years, allowing us to play a leading role in the industry.

Of course, you’ll have access to a flexible workspace in our office, which ranks among the top 7% of office buildings worldwide—yes, really. And because we understand the importance of flexibility, you’ll also work from home regularly and receive a budget to set up a comfortable and productive home office.

In return for your commitment, talent, and expertise, we offer an attractive employment package. In addition to your salary, you will receive holiday allowance, a 13th-month bonus, 27 vacation days (based on a 36-hour workweek), and either a public transport pass or travel allowance for your commute to the office.

Equally important, we invest in your development. You will receive an annual training budget to support your professional growth and continuous learning. This provides opportunities to advance your career, whether within Athora or beyond.

Salary:

Based on the Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) Scale 17 HAY, the salary range is €5.991.23 to €7.988.31 gross per month, based on a 36-hour workweek.
