What you'll do

  • Support GCS Value Proposition every day and with every interaction by providing excellent customer and stakeholder communication on claim matters
  • Provide superior customer service to our clients and partners
  • Investigate, evaluate and settle Auto BI, Commercial General Liability Casualty and possibly some PD liability / E&O/ US claims with claimants or their representatives
  • Ability to handle a varied pending, including files in both pre-litigation and litigation as well as out-of-province claims.
  • On litigation files, work in partnership with defence counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and efficient resolution
  • High level of comfort dealing directly with key clients and broker on all claim related issues and other assistance as required
  • Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a thorough understanding of policy wordings
  • Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis, in accordance with company protocols
  • Maintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques
  • Review and analyse Third Party Adjuster other external reports to ensure proper disposition of claims with view to manage costs and provide exceptional customer service;
  • Provide instructions to vendors and TPA’s to adjust claims and ensure they adhere to company policies and procedures;
  • Expert understanding of the claims experience while understanding the technical strategic direction for the claims file

  • 5 + years of Commercial Claims; with a strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal Lines
  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience
  • Client interaction experience
  • Technical competence in Commercial insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ClaimCenter
  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills

Nice to have

  • Exposure to US claims/ E&O/ PD liability claims an asset
  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation preferred

What you’ll do:

  • Clear understanding of financial elements of our claims function to ensure we remain financially strong and deliver year on year improvement in our business performance

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the financial information captured in Aviva systems

  • Develop an appreciation for the insured’s business/ business model in order to provide best in class customer service

  • Identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities in line with existing Aviva procedures

  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey, the claims handling processes and financial outcomes for our business

What you’ll bring:

  • 7 + years previous claims experience;

  • 5 + years of Commercial Claims; with a strong knowledge of Casualty/Personal Lines

  • Exposure to US claims/ E&O/ PD liability claims an asset

  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation preferred

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent Casualty technical work experience

  • Client interaction experience

What you’ll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $83,500 to $103,500. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
