Senior Cloud Engineer

Role Overview 

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer/Architect to design, implement and operate secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence through formal, documented handovers and driving adoption of modern cloud technologies.

Technical Expertise 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate recent, hands-on experience with leading public cloud platforms, mainly Amazon Web Services, with a strong command of container orchestration technologies like Amazon EKS, Google Kubernetes Engine, Tanzu Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins CI), and related DevOps tools (Artifactory, HashiCorp Vault, Git) is essential. Familiarity with monitoring solutions (Prometheus), database platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra), and collaboration tools (Atlassian stack) is highly valued. While not required, exposure to private cloud and on-premises technologies - such as VMware, virtualization, server, storage and networking infrastructure, Linux-based virtual servers, VMware ESXi hosts, disaster recovery using infrastructure as code, and hybrid environments including vSphere, OpenShift, and DataStax Cassandra migration - will be considered an advantage. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Engineer and enforce multi-account security boundaries using AWS Organizations, Service Control Policies (SCPs), and complex IAM permission boundaries. 

• Architect high-availability hybrid network topologies integrating AWS Direct Connect and Site-to-Site VPNs, with advanced Transit Gateway routing and VPC traffic engineering. 

• Develop and maintain sophisticated Infrastructure as Code libraries using Terraform, including reusable, versioned custom modules and complex state file management. 

• Develop operational runbooks and monitoring frameworks for seamless handover. 

• Define and agree on SLOs and SLAs with stakeholders. 

• Identify and document risks and technical debt. 

• Ensure clear ownership transfer to operations teams post-handover. 

• Collaborate with product, platform, and security teams to align with mature DevOps and SRE models. 

Advanced Skills & Differentiators 

• Develop infrastructure automation and glue code using Python or Bash. 

• Manage production-grade Amazon EKS environments, including worker node configuration, control plane upgrades, and VPC networking integration. 

• Demonstrate operational experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for multi-cloud redundancy and networking but also workload migrations. 

• Maintain hybrid infrastructure environments, combining VMware vSphere operational knowledge with Red Hat OpenShift on Bare Metal. 

• Experience with Helm for Kubernetes deployments is a plus.
