Role Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer will play a key role in the delivery and execution of Greenray’s control system retrofit and upgrade projects.

This position provides specialist engineering expertise across tendering, design, programming, manufacture, testing, and commissioning of gas turbine control systems, with responsibility for ensuring that all solutions meet customer expectations and company requirements in relation to Quality, Cost, and On-Time Delivery.

The role contributes to the development of Greenray’s controls capability, supporting business growth and continuous improvement, while upholding company values of Integrity, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Innovation, and Excellence.

Teamwork & Communication:

Accountability:

  • Take ownership of allocated control system projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Compile functional, software, hardware, networking, and interface design specifications.
  • Define FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures with internal and external suppliers, providing technical assistance and witnessing as required.
  • Support installation and commissioning activities, including occasional site visits to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide office-based customer support for post-sales issues and controls-related troubleshooting.
  • Review equipment and software suppliers to assess technical capability and suitability.
  • Ensure that project documentation, drawings, and software are delivered accurately and in accordance with company standards.
  • Provide technical input for pricing, project claims, and control system product development.

Quality & Reliability:

  • Ensure all control system designs meet engineering and quality standards.
  • Review supplier quality documentation and FAT/SAT results to confirm compliance.
  • Support Engineering and Quality teams in resolving non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by developing Greenray’s controls philosophy and technical design standards.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of PLC technologies and modern control system architectures relevant to gas turbines.
  • Promote a right-first-time approach to design, testing, and commissioning.

Excellence in Delivery:

  • Deliver engineered control system solutions that achieve high performance and reliability.
  • Support the full lifecycle of control system projects, from concept to commissioning and through-life support.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to customer queries and post-sales support requests.
  • Ensure documentation and project deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.
  • Conduct or support customer training sessions for control system operation and maintenance.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the Controls Engineering discipline.

Required Skills

Education (qualifications & training)
