Key Responsibilities

  • Advise management on legal matters, related risks, and practical mitigation options.

  • Support complex commercial transactions, strategic initiatives, corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters.

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret contracts and other legal documents.

  • Research and analyze complex legal issues in support of business objectives.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, regional colleagues, and external counsel on significant matters.

  • Lead and develop a small team of in-house lawyers, including providing guidance, prioritization, and oversight on key legal matters.

Skills Required:

Trusted legal advisor

strong business judgment and practical, risk-based advice.

Risk manager and problem solver

ability to identify issues, assess exposure, and recommend workable solutions.

Clear communicator

able to translate complex legal issues for senior leaders and business teams

Commercially minded partner

balances legal requirements with business objectives and execution needs.

Independent priority manager

handles complex matters and competing demands with sound judgment.

Qualifications Required:

  • Qualified Bengoshi licensed to practice law in Japan.

  • Significant corporate, commercial, or regulatory legal experience, preferably in a multinational environment or leading law firm.

  • Strong legal analysis, contract drafting, negotiation, and judgment.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional fluency in Japanese and English.
