Job Description Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant, Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) is responsible for overseeing all financial processes, reporting, forecasting, and accounting activities impacting GE HealthCare's Pharmaceutical Diagnostics (PDx) Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).

Demonstrated experience in manufacturing cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, COGS reporting, and product costing within a manufacturing environment is required.

Job Description

Role Responsibilities

Product and Manufacturing Costing

• Own and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Oversee the calculation and reporting of product manufacturing costs.
• Analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), reconciling Balance Sheet and P&L movements with operational drivers and external factors, including foreign exchange impacts.
• Ensure accurate US GAAP DISE (Disaggregation of Income Statement Expenses) reporting related to COGS.
• Partner closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure costing accuracy and integrity.

Cost Analysis and Variance Reporting

• Compare actual costs against budgets and standards in alignment with monthly Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) forecasting and closing cycles.
• Own the end-to-end Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and First-In, First-Out (FIFO) processes, including forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
• Investigate material, labor, and overhead variances and identify root causes.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas of operational improvement.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Support annual operating plans, budgets, and periodic forecasts.
• Forecast future production and operating costs.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning activities.

Business Decision Support and Partnering

• Assess product profitability and support pricing decisions in collaboration with FP&A.
• Perform cost-benefit analyses for investments and projects in partnership with ISC Operations and Strategy Finance.
• Support make-versus-buy, sourcing, and operational decision-making.
• Support business transformations, acquisitions, divestitures, and the integration of new businesses and legal entities.

Simplification and Continuous Improvement

• Provide leadership in establishing standard work and driving process simplification initiatives.
• Lead projects aimed at reducing complexity, improving controls, and increasing operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, CIMA, or ACCA, or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Significant experience in manufacturing cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of product costing, standard costing, inventory accounting, COGS analysis, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), First-In, First-Out (FIFO), and variance reporting within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience partnering with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant experience in public accounting, ideally within a Big Four accounting firm.
• Demonstrated proficiency in US GAAP, local GAAP, and authoritative accounting standards.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations within a global, matrixed organization.

• Proven ability to build strong relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex business topics clearly and concisely.
