About this role

Department:

WDTech - R&D

We are Walker & Dunlop.  We are one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, enabling real estate owners and operators to bring their visions of communities — where people live, work, shop, and play — to life. We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities.

Department Overview

WDTech is W&D’s in-house technology team – a group of collaborative and highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology.

WDTech Engineering builds solutions that impact not only our products but also the people and processes across our organization. A commitment to innovation and a passion for disrupting the old-fashioned real estate industry are our highest priorities.

The Impact You Will Have

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering trusted data insights and analytics that support business and product decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for analyzing complex datasets, developing reporting solutions and dashboards, and translating data into actionable insights that improve operational effectiveness and support strategic initiatives.

Working closely with Data Analysts, BI Analysts, Data Engineers, Data QA Engineers, Data Scientists, and Product Managers, you will help ensure data products are accurate, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs as Walker & Dunlop continues to grow as a data-driven organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze and curate data sources to support business and product stakeholders in making informed decisions.

  • Lead key components of the analytical lifecycle, including data exploration, analysis, reporting, and insight delivery.

  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions.

  • Perform data wrangling, transformation, and analysis using SQL and enterprise analytical databases.

  • Define and document datasets, business logic, and reporting definitions to support consistent data usage.

  • Partner with data and product teams to support data governance, data quality, and data management processes.

  • Analyze user engagement, operational, and product data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in analytics, visualization, and stakeholder collaboration.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end analytical projects.

  • Strong experience working with enterprise analytical databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar technologies.

  • Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.

  • Experience with SQL, data transformation, and analytical reporting workflows.

  • Experience with Python and geospatial analysis preferred.

  • Real estate, financial services, or related industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep expertise in SQL and data analysis techniques.

  • Strong proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and analytical best practices.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and analytical findings clearly to business and technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled tools that support reporting, documentation, and analysis workflows preferred.

  • High level of accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Ability to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processes

  • Courtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholders
