Job Description:

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data and analytics cloud-based analytics platforms (DAP) and pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from a wide variety of sources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble large complex data sets which meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Partner with data asset managers, architects, and development leads to ensure a technical solution provides data which is fit for use and in line with architecture blueprints.
• Contribute to and leverage coding standards and best practices to ensure services and components are efficient and reusable.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates breadth of applied IT skills across at least two IT job profiles.
• Applies Integrated Risk Management, IT Operations, IT Project Management, and Enterprise Architecture skills relevant to the work.
• Requires at least two relevant roles and experience managing or influencing people or organizations to achieve significant IT outcomes.
• Defines strategy and leads the delivery and transformation of business outcomes through IT within major sub-OU services, products, or programs.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with strong hands-on expertise in building and delivering Big Data solutions using Spark and Databricks.
• Proven experience designing and developing end-to-end data solutions, including architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Strong knowledge of modern data platform concepts and architectures, including Data Warehousing, Lakehouse, Data Mesh, and Data Quality.
• Knowledge in cloud technologies (Azure Cloud, Google Cloud) – at least 3 years inclusive of software engineering experience like API development
• Extensive knowledge of modern Big Data architecture: Data Warehousing, Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Data Quality, and semantic layer design.
• Fluency in Python (PySpark) and SQL, plus working knowledge of LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, LangChain or equivalent) and context engineering for data-facing agents
• Experience with orchestration and cloud data integration tools such as Airflow and Azure Data Factory.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, API integrations, and modern software engineering practices across Agile and DevOps environments.
• Strong Understanding of AI-native operating model concepts — in the loop, on the loop, and governing the loop — and how they translate into data access and approval architecture.
• Ability to lead technical design discussions, drive solution decisions, and work as a hands-on technical lead within cross-functional and global teams.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong commitment to engineering excellence and delivering high-quality software through code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous improvement.
