What you'll do

  • Utilise CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, and Siemens NX to conceptualise, design, and optimise components and systems that meet performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
  • Design and develop engineering solutions for projects, particularly in the area of additive manufacturing, ensuring deliverables are completed in accordance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Apply engineering principles and design methodologies to address technical challenges, with a focus on functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, engineers, and procurement stakeholders across various centres, to support product development and project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to junior engineers, researchers, and students where appropriate.
  • Evaluate emerging design methodologies, materials, and manufacturing technologies to improve engineering outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Support research and development activities, including prototyping, testing, validation, and design optimisation.
  • Supervise and mentor students involved in research and development projects, supporting their technical learning and development.
  • Contribute technical expertise to grant applications, research proposals, consultancy projects, and industry-funded initiatives.
  • Support engagement with industry partners and stakeholders in project discussions, technology transfer activities, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety requirements, quality systems, and regulatory guidelines throughout the design and development life cycle.
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, presentations, and other engineering deliverables as required.
