Based in our Petone office close to the train station, beach and shops
This is a full time position of 40 hours per week
The remuneration range for this role is $108,644 to $153,379 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience
The opportunity
Help shape the future performance, resilience, and investment priorities of the region’s water treatment facilities. As a Senior Engineer Asset Planning, Treatment, you’ll operate at the systems level – bringing deep technical insight into how treatment assets perform, where risks emerge, and how lifecycle and capital decisions influence long-term service outcomes.
You’ll lead the development and maintenance of Facility Management Plans, ensuring growth, climate resilience, and regulatory expectations are clearly integrated and evidenced. You’ll champion data-driven decision-making – interpreting condition assessments, performance analytics, and modelling to guide renewal strategies, process upgrades, biosolids management, and technology adoption.
Working closely with operational, technical, and regulatory stakeholders, you’ll scope and prioritise investigations, support robust investment decisions, and help ensure treatment systems continue to meet environmental, cultural, and community expectations. About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
8+ years in in water infrastructure planning
A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Environmental, or Civil) or a related discipline
Advanced knowledge of treatment processes, asset lifecycle planning, and hydraulic/process modelling
Recognised expertise in condition assessment interpretation, performance analytics, and data-driven investment planning
Strong stakeholder engagement and technical engineering experience
A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards this
