About the role

At ARX Robotics, you will help build the software foundation behind next-generation unmanned ground vehicles for governmental and civilian applications. As a Senior Engineer, Robotics Software, you will develop scalable and reliable systems that enable autonomous and teleoperated robotic platforms to operate effectively in demanding real-world environments.

You will work across robotics software, embedded systems, communication infrastructure, and hardware integration to create high-performance robotic platforms. From system architecture and communication layers to testing and deployment, your work will directly shape how advanced robotic systems perform in the field.

What You’ll Build

  • Design and develop scalable robotics software architectures for autonomous and teleoperated ground systems
  • Build reliable communication frameworks that enable seamless interaction between robotic devices, sensors, and control systems
  • Develop and integrate software for sensors, actuators, embedded platforms, and electronic subsystems
  • Optimize communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, wireless networks, TCP/UDP, and serial interfaces for secure and reliable operation
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, embedded, autonomy, and testing teams to ensure robust system integration
  • Establish and improve best practices for modular, maintainable, and scalable robotics software development
  • Conduct testing, validation, and system-level debugging to ensure reliability, performance, and operational safety
  • Support deployment and operational readiness through containerized workflows and CI/CD pipelines
  • Create technical documentation that supports collaboration, maintainability, and long-term scalability
  • Mentor team members and contribute to a strong engineering culture focused on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement

What You Bring

  • Several years of hands-on experience developing robotics software for complex real-world systems
  • Strong expertise in C++ and extensive experience working with ROS2
  • Deep understanding of robotics software architecture, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, and real-time constraints
  • Experience working with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, TCP/UDP, wireless systems, and serial interfaces
  • Strong Linux fundamentals and experience with Docker, containerized systems, and CI/CD workflows
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware-software integration challenges in robotics environments
  • Experience designing scalable and maintainable software systems with a focus on reliability and performance
  • A collaborative and proactive mindset with strong ownership of technical solutions
  • Academic background in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline
  • Professional fluency in English. German language skills are beneficial but not required

Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further.
