What you'll do

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates over $10M without supervision, for natural gas pipeline and facility construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and project scopes to develop accurate bid proposals.
  • Utilize estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid) and historical cost data to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assess direct and indirect costs, including contingencies, escalation factors, and risk allowances.
  • Develop and maintain unit price databases and benchmarks for pipeline and facility construction.
  • Develop Crews from labor and equipment databases.
  • Perform quality control reviews on bids utilizing the estimating tool and our department self-review procedure.
  • Hold bid review meetings with management per our quality control process, with the ability to clearly define bid inclusions, assumptions and clarifications.
  • Ability to develop a detailed construction schedule.
  • Ability to review other team member’s estimates.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of estimating databases.
  • Evaluate project requirements, site conditions, and constructability to refine estimates.

  • 10+ years of experience in estimating for oil and gas pipeline projects, midstream facilities, or related infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Excel-based estimating tools, Autodesk Takeoff, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of pipeline construction methods, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, alignment sheets, and construction plans.
  • Experience in cost benchmarking, historical data analysis, and bid strategy development.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present cost data effectively.
  • Knowledge of contract types (e.g., lump sum, unit price, cost-plus) and procurement strategies.
  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Must be comfortable and effective working in an environment with changing demands, delays, and responding to unexpected situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to be effective and efficient.

  • Experience with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) is a plus.

Snelson has an immediate opening for a Senior Estimator in Ceres, CA.
 
Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates over $10M without supervision, for natural gas pipeline and facility construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and project scopes to develop accurate bid proposals.
  • Utilize estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid) and historical cost data to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assess direct and indirect costs, including contingencies, escalation factors, and risk allowances.

Position Requirements:

Compensation:  $150,000- $180,000/year  depending on experience.
