Senior Gameplay Engineer - ARC Raiders

As a Senior Gameplay Engineer at Embark, you will work on ARC Raiders, alongside some of the most talented people in the games industry. We believe that great games are made in creative environments, where builds are always playable, and teams can move fast and test as many ideas as possible. In close collaboration with our designers, you will create easy-to-use systems that enable us to iterate quickly and that encourage experimentation.

The games we're making are built in Unreal, using C++, blueprints and a scripting language called Angelscript. This is a technical, systems-oriented role rather than a content-facing one. You will work autonomously across problems like performance, tooling, architecture and networking - the systems our gameplay and design teams build on top of. You won't be planned for gameplay tasks by production; instead you're expected, with some direction, to find and explore solutions to our everyday and long-term technical problems.

Example of responsibilities

• Collaborate with a wide range of talents at Embark to deliver ground-breaking technical solutions to create fun gameplay for our players

• Identify and build tech to further increase the productivity of our daily work

• Assist our team in debugging and fixing complex issues

• Take ownership of technical systems across multiple areas of the game - often systems players never interact with directly, but that make everything else possible
  

We would love if you have

• A creative and curious mind

• A strong background in C++

• A good grasp of what good gameplay looks and feels like

• Fluent in English - our team comes from all over the world!

• An interest in computer science and programming as a craft

• Experience working across multiple gameplay or engine systems, rather than deep specialization in a single narrow area
  

Additionally one or some of these would be a great bonus

• Experience with multiplayer

• Previously worked with shooter or third-person games

• Comfortable owning technical problems end-to-end with minimal day-to-day direction from design or production
